String Length Check Window

 

The String Length Check window is used to determine whether the currently selected translation unit meets or exceeds the maximum string length specifications.

 

The display showing the number of characters in the target text is updated automatically whenever the text in the Translation Edit bar's Target edit field is modified.

Figure 2: .The String Length Check window here shows that the current  target text is too long, i.e., has more characters than allowed by the maximum string length specification. The red background of the display on the left indicates the error.

 

 

Opening the String Length Check Window

 

1.

Manually

The String Length Check window opens after selecting the command provided in the
Add-On
menu.

2.

Automatically

The String Length Check window is activated (opened) automatically when:

a.

the maximum number of characters allowed for the currently selected target text has been exceeded.

b.

the option to open the window automatically is enabled in the Check Options dialog.

Target Text Length (Number of Characters) Display Field

The display on the left shows the number of characters in the target text currently entered in the Translation Edit bar.  A green background indicates the number of characters is less than or equal to the maximum number allowed.  A red background means the maximum number of characters has been exceeded (the string is too long). See Figures 1 and 2 above.

Maximum Target Text Length Display Field

The display on the right shows the maximum number of characters allowed for the current translation text, as determined by the setting in the Check Options dialog box.
